Hagrid's Flight

From Harry Potter and the Philosohopher's Stone:

“How did you get here?” Harry asked, looking around for another boat.
“Flew,” said Hagrid.
“Flew?”
“Yeah — but we’ll go back in this. Not s’pposed ter use magic now I’ve got yeh.”

So how did Hagrid fly to the Hut-on-the-Rock? We know brooms won't carry him, and there was no sign of that flying motorbike. I think the solution is pretty obvious!!
